Smart Overlays put live proof on top of your widget surfaces, recent purchases, live visitor counts, post engagement and trigger-driven CTAs, without the popup-builder mess. They read from your real Shopify and widget events, so the counts are true, not seeded.
Add an overlay
- Pick the overlay type. Choose FOMO ("3 people bought this in the last hour"), live visitors ("24 viewing right now"), post stats (saves and add-to-carts on a UGC post), a widget-event trigger, or a live activity feed.
- Connect the data it needs. FOMO reads Shopify order webhooks; live-visitors reads widget session pings. Make sure the source events are flowing before you rely on the count.
- Scope it to a surface. Attach each overlay to a specific widget surface or collection (per-PDP or per-collection). Overlays don’t auto-fire across your whole storefront.
- Tune the behaviour. For FOMO, set the lookback window, an optional region filter, and decay when there’s no recent purchase. For widget-event triggers, choose the interaction that fires it (for example a third gallery view, video played to 80%, or a hotspot tapped without an add-to-cart).
What it is not
Smart Overlays are not a sitewide popup builder. They sit on top of widget surfaces, not as a fullscreen modal. If you want a fullscreen sign-up popup, use the lead-capture widget instead.
